When can you submit an objection?

Submitting an objection is possible against decisions by the Municipality of Utrecht regarding:

• Social assistance benefit (grant, amount, termination)
• Recovery of benefits
• Fines or sanctions
• Wmo support (such as aids or care)
• Debt assistance
• Extraordinary social assistance

Time limit for objection

You have 6 weeks to submit an objection, calculated from the date on the decision.

Steps to submit an objection

1. Draft an objection letter addressed to the Executive Board of Utrecht
2. Include your personal details (name, address, BSN)
3. Indicate which decision you are objecting to
4. Describe why you disagree with the decision
5. Attach a copy of the decision
6. Sign and send the objection within the 6-week period

Course of the objection procedure

Hearing	You get the opportunity to explain your position (often mandatory)
Decision	The municipality decides within 6 to 12 weeks after receipt of your objection

Expedited procedure via provisional remedy

If the decision has immediate, serious consequences and you cannot wait for the outcome, you can apply for a provisional remedy at the District Court of Midden-Nederland (Vrouwe Justitiaplein 1, Utrecht). This is an expedited procedure.
