Statutory Holiday Days in Utrecht

As an employee in Utrecht, you are entitled to statutory holiday days. This amounts to at least 4 times your weekly working hours.

How Many Days Do You Get?

For a full-time job (5 days per week), you receive at least 20 statutory holiday days per year.

Part-Time Work

If you work, for example, 2 days per week, you are entitled to 4 × 2 = 8 statutory holiday days per year.

Accrual of Holiday Days

Your holiday days accrue based on the time you have worked. If you start in the middle of the year, you receive a pro rata portion of the days.

Expiry of Days

Statutory holiday days expire 6 months after the end of the year in which they accrued, unless you were unable to take them due to circumstances.

Holiday and Illness

During illness, you continue to accrue holiday days. With your employer's permission, you can also take holiday while ill.
