WIEG Benefit Explained

This benefit from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) covers income loss when caring for a newborn child. Valid up to 52 weeks after birth, based on your salary from the three preceding months. Combinable with parental or partner salary, not with unemployment benefit (WW).

Maximum Amount WIEG Benefit 2024

The weekly maximum is €2,120, set by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW). Calculation: 70% of your daily wage (max. €2,120/week).

Calculation Example

For a daily wage of €280:

  1. 70% of €280 = €196/day
  2. €196 × 7 = €1,372/week

For higher salary: max. €2,120/week. Annual maximum: €2,120 × 52 = €110,240.
